Bindi Irwin gets asked a lot of questions whenever she meets fans — about her late father, Steve, her relationship with brother Robert, and one in particular that she felt the need to address publicly because it, frankly, it makes her feel uncomfortable when you have to answer her.
The question is whether she and her husband Chandler Powell plan to have more children or not.
Bindi and Chandler, who are parents to daughter Grace Warrior, 3, recently took to their Zoo Australia YouTube channel to host a little Q&A session with fans.
Fans wrote in questions ranging from what animals they would like to introduce to their zoo, how often they visit America to how to recover from the loss of a loved one.
But when asked if the couple plan to give Grace a sibling, Bindi took a moment to be incredibly candid and set the record straight.
“I have a lot of feelings about this question”
In the second part of their video Q&A, Chandler took the microphone to ask the question that many people have been pestering the couple for years.
“Are you planning to have another baby?” he reads, both with a smile on their faces before carefully taking the time to respond tactfully.
Bindi turns to Chandler and asks, “How often do we get asked this question?” to which they both reply, “daily.”
Bindi admits she has “a lot of feelings” about this particular question, but asked her husband to deal with it first before she gets stuck on it.
“We get asked this question a lot and many of you may already know that Bindi went through a huge journey with endometriosis and basically it was an absolute miracle that we had Grace and we love Grace so much and are enjoying every little moment with her. ,” says Chandler.
“We are very happy with our little family of three,” he adds.
“You never know what’s going on inside someone’s life”
And with that, Bindi took it upon herself to clarify exactly where she stood with the extended brood, but not before thanking people who were “curious” to see if they are, in fact, planning to have another baby.
“I just want to put it out there, be careful when you ask that question because you never know what’s going on in someone’s life, in a family’s world,” Bindi begins.
“You know, everything may look good on the outside and on the inside, their personal journey may have been filled with turmoil and challenges that you can’t even fathom.
“While I understand why a lot of people ask us this question and I appreciate the kindness and good intention behind it, it’s also a really complicated question for many, many people who maybe can’t have another child, can’t have a child. at all.”
“She will be our only child”
With that said, Bindi finally accepts that Grace is likely to be their only child.
“We feel very lucky to have Grace. “She is our beautiful daughter, but she will probably be our only child,” admits the mother.
“She will be our only child, but you never know… maybe we’ll be blessed with another little one on the way. That would be incredible, but yeah, who knows…”
Before the signing, Bindi also wanted to explain how she hates Grace being called “their only child” and prefers to refer to her as “their only child.”
“Argh, I don’t like the word ‘only’.” She is our beautiful, perfect, wonderful baby and oh my gosh, every day I think how lucky we are to have her.”
The answer prompted a slew of fans to take to the page’s comments section to congratulate Bindi for answering the question so perfectly and being so honest.
“I’m sure they’ll pop the baby question because they’re obviously such amazing parents. But Bindi’s response was so wise and kind and a great reminder to be thoughtful about this issue,” one fan commented.
“Thank you for the way you answered the fertility question. As someone who has had to deal with the question of having children since getting married and dealing with 4 miscarriages and a long journey with autoimmune disease, this message needs to be shared more with those who don’t think about how these questions affect people. ,” shared another struggling mother.
And another added: “You approached the baby question with such grace!”
