Bill Hader volunteers to help a news crew cover the LA fires before discovering that his Palisades home was spared from the deadly fire

Bill Hader gave a local LA news crew covering the LA fires a surprise.

On Thursday morning, a crew from LA’s ABC 7 news was in Pacific Palisades β€” one of the areas hardest hit by this week’s wildfires β€” when they came across a man trying to get back to his home after the fire tore through the area earlier this week. week.

His face obscured by a mask (the air quality in LA has been terrible since the fires started), the man told the group of reporters he wanted to laugh with them and help report on the disaster.

The news crew returned when the seemingly random civilian turned out to be actor Bill Hader.

Reporter Josh Haskell, who was among the ABC 7 crew, told the story in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) Friday morning, describing it as a unique experience for the City of Angels.

“A moment alone in LA Thursday at the roadblock for the #PalisadesFire,” Haskell captioned a photo of Hader giving a peace sign while wearing his face mask.

β€œThe resident trying to gain access came to the news van as if he was part of our team, wanted to help cover, ride with us. Then, he took off his mask, smiled, and it was Bill Hader!” the reporter wrote, adding that the “SNL” alum “couldn’t be cuter!”

A representative for Hader confirmed to The Post that Hader’s home was spared from the fire and he was able to return home briefly Thursday.

Almost every other home on Hader’s Pacific Palisades street burned to the ground, according to the Daily Mail.

The Emmy winner purchased the immaculate contemporary home for $4.2 million in 2019. Measuring approximately 4,300 square feet, the two-story residence boasts five bedrooms with four full and two half bathrooms.

Photos of the home taken Thursday show the home is almost entirely undamaged, with only a few bushes and trees in the front yard appearing to be engulfed in flames.

The house of one of Hader’s neighbors was also left standing. The houses on the other side and behind Hader’s were not so lucky. Buildings were reduced to nothing more than rubble.

Pacific Palisades was completely destroyed by the fire that began destroying the idyllic coastal community on Friday.

In addition to Hader, many other celebrities called the Palisades home and were forced to flee when evacuation orders were issued. Some lost their homes.

However, others, like the “Barry” star, were lucky.

Tom Hanks’ modern clifftop estate miraculously survived the fires.

As of Friday, over 5,000 structures have been destroyed and more than 200,000 Angelenos have been evacuated as the Palisades, Eaton and Kenneth fires (among others) continue to burn. Local authorities have said that at least 11 people have lost their lives as a result of the fires.
