She has gone from trickster to fashionista.
Anna Delvey, the con artist turned socialite, now wears a new hat – producer and runway model.
The 33-year-old will officially hit the runway for the first time on Wednesday night to close out New York Fashion Week, appearing for up-and-coming designer SHAO New York. It’s the latest in a three-show line sponsored by Pornhub and produced by Outlaw Agency, which Delvey co-founded with PR Kelly Cutrone.
“I mean, I threw myself, so it’s not like a huge accomplishment here,” Delvey joked backstage at The Post before the show, noting that she’s still “excited” to be walking on her first runway.
The polished look at the Altman Building in Chelsea – a traditional dance floor lined with elegant lines, white chairs, high-end lighting and a professional soundboard – is very different from Delvey’s guerilla show on the rooftop dance floor in 2023. which saw a throng of VIPs and press clinging to her walk in the East Village.
“I’m really excited,” Delvey said. “This is my first project, this is a departure from everything we organized in my apartment last year.”
Now that Delvey is no longer under house arrest, she can participate in “Dancing with the Stars” and produce Runway shows that aren’t insecure one-off pop-ups.
It also means that The Outlaw Agency is now officially in business—and first on the list was Wednesday night’s curated lineup for three designers, Private Policy, Untitled&Co. and SHAO.
Too much choice, at least for Delvey, makes things more difficult—at least when you’re planning for NYFW.
“Being under house arrest was a form of prison, and in a way, it’s easier to work against the restrictions because you only have so much to work with,” she said, adding that now, she can “have everything.”
While she’s primarily in charge of communications — marketing the shows and managing social media posts — she’s also learning from her co-founder, one of the best in the PR business.
“We’re creating a kind of hybrid communications agency,” said Cutrone, founder of her PR firm People’s Revolution.
Describing the ex-con as “tek-y”, Cutrone stressed the necessity of Delvey’s role, which involves reaching more than 200-odd people in the audience, through social media – designers need a huge influence to guarantee mass production cost.
And, not to mention, Delvey can use her skills learned in closing, like being cool, calm and collected, Cutrone added.
“Honestly, spending time at Rikers is pretty good experience for how to handle a fashionable crowd when they’re arriving,” the public relations legend told The Post of her business partner, friend and fellow home.
As the first show of the day began around 4 p.m., the noise of the crowd fell silent as the models paraded down the catwalk to the sounds of corporate America—phones buzzing and keyboards clicking through speakers, as the Privacy Policy shows. .
The models wore streetwear that was an ode to New York, with notes of newspaper-inspired spectacle and an array of denim, tailoring, baseball caps emblazoned with “NY” and a graphic T-shirt emblazoned with a quote from “The Devil Wears Prada. “
Pornhub’s partnership for the trio of shows may seem surprising, but for the popular adult entertainment site, it was a no-brainer.
According to Alexzandra Kekesi, VP of brand and community at Pornhub, “there are a lot of similarities between the world of porn and the world of fashion,” as well as Delvey — all of which are taboo, “counter-cultural” or even “controversial.”
Kekesi also believes that Delvey is “very misunderstood”.
“I’m actually really excited that she’s having this rerun because I think people are going to see more of who she really is,” Kekesi said, calling her “funny” and “smart.”
While Delvey still has her ankle monitor, her newfound freedom is giving her a little more freedom to take on new projects – although she insists she’s “too old to be a model” despite her appearance on the catwalk.
And as for the Outlaw Agency, Cutrone and Delvey — who, Cutrone said, “got a lot of attention” together — have graduated from colleagues to trustees, despite their two-decade age difference, now living together in the house of Cutrone’s Hudson Valley.
“It’s been a beautiful relationship and it’s made my life better,” Cutrone said. “I think it’s made her life better.”
