A marketing agency has raised eyebrows with a six-month perk it recently revealed to staff.
Whiteline Group in Thailand has announced that it will give employees paid ‘Tinder passes’ to explore the app’s dating options.
From July until the end of the year, employees can be paid to go out on dates as part of an initiative to boost their well-being.
Footage showed female staff from the company sitting around a conference room as leadership unveiled the initiative.
The staff reacted with surprise and excitement to the news. One staff member shared a video showing how she took advantage of the plan by going to a meeting during the day.
The date involved a walk in the park, while the romantic prospect of the woman fed her watermelon with a skewer.
It all started after a member of staff complained about being too busy to date and thus Tinder Leave was introduced.
However, staff aren’t just taking days and nights off to meet potential suitors. The Whiteline Group is also paying for six-month Tinder Gold and Tinder Platinum subscriptions for its staff.
Tinder Gold allows users to see which profiles they have liked, they have unlimited likes and can match with people from all over the world.
Meanwhile, Tinder Platinum allows users to send a note with every superlike, your profile will appear faster in front of people who have liked you, and a monthly boost to be one of the top profiles in your area for 30 minutes.
The idea is that if customers find “The One,” their productivity and well-being will increase.
Whiteline Group managers also said that some research shows that being in love increases happiness, making work more enjoyable.
A 2023 study by Brendon McConnell at the University of Southampton found that “married individuals earn higher hourly wages than their single counterparts, the so-called marriage wage premium.”
“The male premium has long been established, while for women, the relationship between being married and wages has evolved from a penalty to a premium over the past few decades,” the study says.
