A retired couple have given up their home, business and their lives on land to live full -time on board a sailing ship that will travel to the world for 15 years.
Lanette and Johan Canen, both 55, began their epic adventure in mid -2024 on the Vie Odyssey ship.
The ship is a residential ship that will stop at 425 ports in 147 seats in the next three years, but the rent they pay locks in a room for 15 years.
Lanette and Johan thought that the type of lifestyle they were now was only for millionaires and were surprised when they discovered that they could join Odyssey for less than their living costs in Hawaii, where they had lived for 10 years.
The couple’s journey is a comprehensive attitude that includes food, drink, WiFi and a cleaner for only $ 3,500 a month.
Not a bad price considering what country’s banners pay for rent or mortgages, groceries, such as registration/tariff/gasoline, electricity, water and everything else in the middle.
“We had a car rental business that we sold to be able to handle our cabin,” Johan Tod Daily Mail.
“People think we are ultra -rich to be able to do so, but it is cheaper than our rent and costs of living in Hawaii. This is for normal people.”
Johan and Lanette are not only in their great living change, with many retirees choosing to give up the maintenance of a house for the sea emotion.
Many people see it as a cheaper opportunity that allows them to mark a number of items from their buckets.
Lanette and Johan have visited more than 25 seats only eight months on their 15-year-old journey and enjoy the time their ship crosses each country.
Odyssey spends numerous days in each port unlike traditional cruise ships entering and outside within a day.
“We don’t have an exit strategy. We are both 55, we no longer need things. We just want adventures and experiences. We went from keeping 31 cars in any,” Johan said.
“It feels so good not to have responsibility – we have done our laundry and changed our sheets twice a week.
“This is the future, especially with home work.”
Many people who consider full-time navigation as an option to fight them with the idea of removing families after, but this is not a matter in Odyssey-Fryens and Family can visit up to 28 days with their room and is free.
“The service is extraordinary, we feel like kingdom – they even bow to us. There is no regret for whatever, I love this lifestyle,” Lanette said.
“With rent that grows all over the world, this will be the new way of living.”
Johan and Lanette document their lifestyle navigation on their YouTube channel: Living Life on a cruise.
They have almost 30,000 subscribers and millions of views from people interested in following the threads of full -time navigation life.
