At a time when Jonathan Montgomery, a British transplant living in Alaska, retired 15 years ago, was fully fed up with his brutal winters of the adoption state. So he decided to make a snow and go to the warm shores.

“I look at my life goals where it’s not bad weather,” Montgomery, 61, tells Realtor.comâ® on a recent email exchange while in one of his winter adventures abroad.

Here’s how it works for Montgomery: six months out of the year, covering the spring and summer season, it lives in Anchorage, AK, enjoying many external activities the area has to offer. The next six months, the pension is divided between a house invited to Bali and a van in New Zealand while rented his home in the United States.

“I usually go to New Zealand for two to three months a year,” he explains. “It’s a lot like Alaska, but when it’s winter in Alaska, it’s wine in New Zealand.

“This will be my 15th year of snow and I love it completely,” he gushes.

From the UK to the final border

Montgomery is originally from England, but moved to Alaska to attend the Fairbanks graduate school in the late 1980s. After winning his MBA in 1991, he moved to Anchorage, married and entered a career in mortgage loan.

An external exterior, Montgomery fell in love with the wild, open spaces of Alaska, but not so much with her harsh winter weather, with average temperatures suspended in adolescence and 20.

“I love Alaska completely during the summer.” The possibilities of desert adventure are just invincible. “
